Colin Pratt is a semi-retired economist and self-described “econoclast” who spent 50 years working at the intersection of business, government, and natural resources. Over a career that spanned more than 90 countries and hundreds of field assignments, he witnessed firsthand how orthodox economic models fail when confronted with real-world complexities and ecological boundaries.
Holding economics degrees from Manchester University and London (SOAS), Colin never bought into the mainstream neoclassical theory that dominates academia. Having seen how economic “obscurantism” and neoliberal narratives justify the status quo and block action on climate change and inequality, he now writes to demystify economics for everyday citizens. His book, Changing the Story, bridges practical political economy with ecological reality to build optimism, agency and a new progressive vision.
